Be part of the team that transforms Gurdwaras around the world
Inspiration for the project
Gurdwaras in the world are in desperate need of a youth revival. Many Gurdwaras are not meeting the needs of the youth community and do not provide enough interaction with the local communities. Project Naad would like to have contacts for all the major cities with people who have a desire to improve the infrastructure provided by their local Gurdwaras for the youth and visitors.
Aims of the project
This project is aimed at making Gurdwaras more youth friendly, more English/local language friendly and more visitor friendly. We want to encourage some of the following services:
- Setup of Rehraas Sahib meditation classes with and opportunity afterwards to have informal discussions about spirituality and Sikh Dharma
- Setup of after work keertan groups which encourage the use of both indian and non-indian instruments; discussion groups which provide an opportunity to learn about Sikh Dharma in a relaxed environment and a range of social activities to build cohesion within the community
- Drive to get SikhiToTheMAX in Gurdwaras with projector screens
- Organisation of Gurdwara open days for the local community to come and be introduced to a Sikh temple and enjoy a vegetarian meal. These events would be run by young people and include a welcoming committee and possibly a sign up sheet to workshops which gives an opportunity for visitors to further their knowledge on Sikh Dharma and spirituality
- Setting up leaflet stalls in your Gurdwara reception to have free Sikh literature. Project Naad leaflets are designed for this purpose and are ideal for people with limited knowledge on Sikh Dharma to get a good idea of its philosophy and lifestyle
